Shirley Daley, a Cleveland native is a member of award winning group, Anthony Brown and Group TherAPy. Shirley has always had a love for music. She recalls being surrounded by it as the soulful sounds of the Clark Sisters, Whitney Houston, Walter Hawkins and many Motown greats filled her home. At the age of six, Shirley began singing in church and as a teenager, she would often teach and direct that same church's choir.
Chosen to be a part of the Cleveland School of the Arts magnet school program, which she attended from fourth grade until her high school graduation. There she learned the fundamentals of music theory, jazz, choral and gospel music. While in high school Shirley was awarded a scholarship to privately study opera, spirituals, and classical singing at the Cleveland music school settlement. As a classically trained vocalist, Shirley was accepted into Morgan State University, where she toured the world with the school's choir.
In 2001 Shirley joined Group TherAPy (previously AJB & AP), a gospel-influenced troupe under the direction of Anthony Brown. The group often performed as background singers for a wide range of artists, from Gospel greats like Donnie McClurkin, Maurette Brown-Clark, and Erica Campbell, to R&B superstars like Kelly Price, Anthony Hamilton, and Stevie Wonder. Anthony Brown & Group TherAPy released their self-titled debut album, on August 21, 2012. It debuted at #3 on Billboard Gospel charts
The album's lead single "Testimony," is the longest running gospel radio single on Billboard. The group's sophomore album "Everyday Jesus," released in July 2015 debuted at #1 on multiple billboard charts and remained at #1 for several weeks. In February 2016, the album won a record breaking 10 Stellar Gospel music Awards. The Grammy-Nominated lead single "Worth" spent more than 20 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Gospel Radio Airplay chart.
In addition to traveling with Anthony Brown and Group TherAPy, Shirley is an accomplished vocal coach. She provides services to students of all ages both in person and through online sessions. Shirley's passion is to help her clients achieve their goals in music and beyond.
